some slightly better photos that show a lot more detail. This should give you a better idea of the scale and the texture.
Its done. Almost.
Need to etch some residue off some spots, and decide what do coat it with. Because the rods were all handled differently, they don’t all have the same shine. I need to experiment with a few things on the 5mm rods that snuck into the piles.
Im not positive Im going to mount it to the base. I think its easier to transport with out it, plus it can be rotated while keeping the base the same direction. That way you can turn the good side out, like a jaunty christmas tree.
Some updates of the carbon fiber sculpture thats been in the works for a while. Its pretty close to done.
Right now my biggest fear is it breaking. The more work done to it the heavier and more fragile it gets. I have to be very careful about putting it away when its not being worked on.
But once its done I’ll probably want to smash it myself.
Sculpture update #2. Running out of cyanoacrylate but its taking shape. Going to start building the “branches” soon.
First update on my sculpture project. The base is done and the rods are coming together. Ultimately I’m going with the lower right mockup from the right image. When its done it should look like a tree with no leaves.
Oh and my two rules for it:
1) I have to use every carbon fiber tube I have on hand.
2) I cant modify any tubes, in any way.
Currently listening to, while I sketch up some sculpture ideas. Today feels very good.
Roman Opałka was a French-born Polish painter who painted numbers. In 1965 he began painting a process of counting – from one to infinity. Starting in the top left-hand corner of the canvas and finishing in the bottom right-hand corner, the tiny numbers were painted in horizontal rows. As of July 2004, he had reached 5.5 million.
